From the first day that Shane was diagnosed, January 3,2006, he's been an inspiration to all who know him. Shane's story is one of courage, strength, and hope for a cure from this terrible enemy. He endured not only one but TWO amputations within a year. His first year of chemo was so harsh on his body, making him quite ill and resulting in many blood & platelet transfusions. He had many opportunities to do things while he was hospitalized, but he was just too sick...
Our first family outing after diagnosis, we were invited to appear on ABC's 'Extreme Make-over Home Edition' via Sparrow Clubs USA where Shane helped build a serenity pond for friend, 'Boey', who was diagnosed the same month and year as Shane...
When Shane heard the word 'relapse' too many times, he began living! Golfing in Washington and California, para sailing in Mexico, jet skiing in Florida and hunting in Oregon! It was common to hear people ask, “How can someone with so much adversity be so upbeat and happy?” Shane loved everything about life and humanity...
Finally, Shane was literally on his last leg and no one knew it. He never told anyone he was sick and in constant pain. He was too focused on others welfare to acknowledge his “tag-a-long cancer” as he called it... Shane impacted this world with demonstrations of courage combined with a positive attitude.
The greatest son, brother, and friend, anyone could ask for... Shane lived well and finished well, inspiring us to do the good things in life...

On October 25th, Shane calmly stated, “I think this is the day God has chosen for me.” On October 26, 2009, Shane passed away, leaving us with these words...
“I did not give up on anything. I believe God will take me when it's my time.” ~SC~
